Here are a few tips that helped me earn quite a bit of scholarship money:
1. Apply for anything you can find even if its an essay. I hate writing essays as much as the next guy but if you limit yourself to writing three a week (so that you don’t feel too overwhelmed) and you remember that it could save you THOUSANDS OF $$$, it becomes a lot easier.
2. Work your tail off in high school! It may not seem like it at the time but its worth it. I earned half of my tuition because I got good grades and got involved in my school which leads me to my next point…
3. Get Involved! Don’t sit by the sidelines… get out and DO something! Whether its begin a class officer, joining a team, participating in pep club or whatever it is, DO IT! Scholarship givers love that stuff.
4. Don’t get discouraged. Of course you won’t win everything but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try. So what if you miss a few; if you get even one scholarship it might save you $500, $1000, or even $10000! (That’s a lot of money!)
