Alright, you have created a site on your computer and now you are ready to share it with the world, right? Okay! You have two options: (1) You can purchase a domain name (ie. http://www.yournamehere.com) for about $8 a year or you can get a free domain name (ie. http://www.yournamehere.yourhost.com). The ‘yourhost’ will be replaced with the company who will ‘host’ your website.

For maximum success, I recommend you try and bum $10 off your parents and buy a domain name. (Just tell them you are trying to make your way in the world and our doing something useful with your time, they’ll love the idea). Anyways, back to getting your domain name…

You will have to visit a domain name registrar such as Netfirms or GoDaddy. Once you’re there you’ll have to search for a domain name (.com) that isn’t already taken. Please remember to:

• Find a  “.com” name- Don’t mess with those other ones.
• Make sure to only use 2-3 words in your name- Yeah, I know this site has four… shut up.
• Make sure your spelling is correct

Okay, once you’ve done that… go ahead and buy it! Instructions will be provided by the registar… Once that’s finished, go back to picking a host for your site!
